15 November 2022, the human population reaches 8 billion. Biodiversity loss, climate change, pollution, deforestation, water and food shortage – these are all exacerbated by our huge and ever-increasing numbers. Our impact on the environment is a product of our consumption and our numbers.

Unsafe water is responsible for more than 1.2 million deaths each year. It’s a leading risk factor for infectious diseases, exacerbates malnutrition, and is the most common cause of diarrhea. Diarrhea is, in turn, the world’s second-leading cause of child mortality, claiming the lives of an estimated 525,000 children under five every year. It doesn’t have to be this way.

At the root of our environmental crisis is the simple reality that we are asking more of our planet than it can provide, and producing more waste and emissions than it can handle. If we’re to fix this crisis and ensure a decent future for ourselves and the natural world, that has to change.

Resources are depleted when it is being used faster than it can replenish itself. The industrial revolution is when it all began. As our culture advanced and our species invented many things that will make our lives easier, our demand for raw materials increased by leaps and bounds. We get these resources from the other. The problem is, we’re using too much and without care. Our planet just can’t keep up with our ever-increasing demands.

Water is an absolute basic human necessity, and each person adds to demand Threats to fresh water are even more critical. An MIT study concluded that nearly five billion people will live in water-stressed regions by 2050. The United Nations has calculated that water shortages as a result of climate change could displace hundreds of millions of people by 2030. Regional variations in water availability are extreme but many of the world’s poorest regions, and those which have high population growth, are among those with the shortest supply. Developed countries also suffer from the effects of population pressure on water supply. The densely-populated south-east of England is ranked in the bottom 10% of global regions for ability to supply water to its inhabitants.

We must get our children Resource Literate

Earth Community is passing the era of `Consumption Addiction’ that keep us relentlessly in a competition/race in growing our own supremacy in purchase, possession, power, pride or whatever visible and perceivable on earth. And to achieve this we do adopt any damn trick no matter how abhorrent, shameful, painful it is. We are desperate enough to ignore people’s voice and choice, rituals, ethics, morality, civility and even teachings of the Holy Scripture. People in each sect, race, religion and ethnicity are the same in Profit, Purchase, Possession, Power and Pride making process or race.
Human being become a `Consumption Addict’ that has taken away the peace, justice, dignity, rights, responsibility. `I am not fine’ has become the universal uttering from each one around the globe. No matter the economic each and every one is running after money and wealth enduring tension, sufferings. Along with this pessimistic feelings and words each of us have become a home of several diseases and have to carry a medicine shop wherever we move.

Yes, we do visit Mosque, Mandir, Kyang, Church etc and different holy places and perform the ritual prayer but none of those impact on our daily doings. But the central theme of those prayer is bringing significant change in mindset, behavior, attitude, gesture, posture etc. The Greed, Lust, Anger and Arrogance are unbridled which is completely forbidden by each scripture.

And each of us is arrogant, vibrant enough to claim that `I am a believer.’ This is a great misfortune for the earth community that none of us are aware about the exact teaching of the Holy Scripture. People are egotistical to fight with other claiming own supremacy and humiliate others. And that’s the vexation to the spirit, drive away the social, national and global peace and harmony.

It’s crystal clear to all, in each religious group most of the followers do perform his/her ritual prayer aimed at worldly gaining. None is targeted to address the teaching of scripture. Everyone do all those things for own name and fame more specifically it’s observed that has substantial contribution in financial gaining. Sometimes it seems that people are trying to exploit even the almighty creator and they consider the almighty like other individual that is almighty is unable to realize her/his tricks that placed for personal worldly gain.

Each one is keen enough to seek and grasp the blessings from almighty and that’s competent to build more and more worldly wealth – no matter how many of other people are deprived or in the starvation, migration being the victim of profit, possession and purchase process of few.

We are more than confirm that we will die. And none on earth knows about her/his time of death. We are scared about death.

This is also a fact that we don’t know whether we like to live or not prefer to die. In fact, we don’t know where we were before this life and where we will be after this life. Do we believe that present life is better than next? If not what’s the justification to be crazy for present life. Do we like to live for self or other? Do we believe that all my family member, relation, society and nation cannot survive without me? Is there any prove in my hand that my presence will contribute to live other better?

There are only few never frightened on her/his death. They believe each has to die and it may happen in any time. Deaths never consider age, economic status, power status, sect, race religion, ethnicity, caste, creed or any other indicator. Living body must die being without notice in even a fraction of a second.

Statistics show that approximately 40% of the food produced in America is never eaten and if just half of the potential food waste worldwide were recovered, we could end World Hunger.

২০০৪ সাল থেকে স্বেচ্ছাপ্রণোদিত ব্যক্তিবর্গের দ্বারা জতিক ও আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে সাশ্রয় আন্দোলন পরিচালিত হচ্ছে। যে কোন এলাকায় স্থানীয় স্বেচ্ছাসেবকগণের নিজস্ব অর্থায়নেই সাশ্রয় কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হয়ে থাকে। আমাদের কোন কমিটি, নেতা, দফতর, রেজিস্ট্রেশন, ব্যাংক হিসাব নেই। আমরা বলি যে, বিশ্বের যে কোন প্রান্তের যে কেউই এক ফোঁটা পানি, এক মিনিট বিদ্যুৎ, একটি ভাত বা খাদ্য কণা ইত্যাদি যে কোন সম্পদের অপচয় রোধ বা সাশ্রয় করার মানসিকতা গ্রহণ করলেই তিনি আমাদের স্বেচ্ছাসেবক এবং তিনি নিজের ইচ্ছানুযায়ী কর্মসুচী সাজিয়ে আন্দোলন পরিচালনা করতে পারেন এবং নেতৃত্ব দিতে পারেন।

সম্প্রতি সরকার বৈশ্কি বিরুপ পরিস্থিতির কারণে লোডশেডিংয়ের সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণের মাধ্যমে জাতিকে সম্পদ সচেতন, যত্নশীল ও সংবেদনশীল তথা মিতব্যয়ী বা সাশ্রয়ী করার যে উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে তার জন্য আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ ও কৃতজ্ঞতা জ্ঞাপন করছি, সিদ্ধান্তকে স্বাগত জানাচ্ছি, এই মহতী সিদ্ধান্ত ও উদ্যোগের সাথে একাত্মতা ঘোষণা করছি।

মহোদয় বর্তমান পৃথিবীর প্রধানতম সমস্যা হচ্ছে মানুষ বিবেকবর্জিত হয়ে চরমভাবে ভোগাসক্ত হচ্ছে, দ্রুত ফুরিয়ে যাচ্ছে প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদ। বিশেষজ্ঞগণ মনে করেন চলমান ধারা থেকে বিশ্ববাসী নিজেদেরকে বের করে আনতে সক্ষম না হলে অচিরেই বিশ্ব বাসের অযোগ্য হবে। সভ্যতার চরম উৎকর্ষতার যুগে এসে সন্তানের জন্য বাসের অযোগ্য বিশ্বের গোড়াপত্তন হবে আমদেরই দ্বারা, ভবিষ্যৎ বংশধরদের কাছে আমরা খল ও খাদক হিসাবে চিহ্নিত ও সঙ্গায়িত হব।

মহোদয়, এমতাবস্তায় পৃথিবীর প্রত্যেক নাগরিকের প্রধানতম দায়িত্ব হচ্ছে নিজেকে ভোগাসক্তি থেকে মুক্ত করা, প্রতি কণা খাদ্য, সম্পদ, প্রতিফোঁটা পানি সহ যাবতীয় সম্পদ সাশ্রয়ে কার্যকর ভুমিকা পালন করা। বিগত বেশ ক’বছর ধরে আমরা পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তর সহ সর্বস্তরের সরকারি বেসরকারি কার্যালয়ে অনুরোধ করে আসছি প্রত্যেক শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠাণ ও কার্যালয়ে অন্তত: একটি সাশ্রয় ব্যানার রাখার উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করতে। ২০১২, থেকে ২০১৫ সালে পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তর, চট্টগ্রাম আমাদেরকে কিছু সাশ্রয় ব্যানার করে দেয় এবং বিভিন্ন প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে তা লাগানো হয়। এছাড়াও দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থানের সম্পদ সচেতন ও সংবেদনশীল ব্যক্তিবর্গ ও শিক্ষার্থীরা মিলে সাশ্রয় ব্যানার করে জনসমাগম স্থলে লাগিয়েছে। আমরা ঐ সকল মহানুভব ব্যক্তি ও শিক্ষার্থীগণের প্রতি যারপরনাই কৃতজ্ঞ।

মহোদয় মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী সহ সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলের সদয় অনুমতিতে আপনি উদ্যোগ নিলে কৃষি মন্ত্রণালয়ের সাথে সম্পর্কিত যাবতীয় দপ্তর/সংস্থায় সাশ্রয় গণসচেতনায়ন কার্যক্রম শুরু করার এবং এখানে কর্মরত সকলেই স্ব স্ব পরিবারে নিজেকে ও পরিবারের সকল সদস্যকে সাশ্রয়ী নাগরিক হিসাবে গড়ে তোলার উদ্যোগ নিতে পারে। এই মহান উদ্যোগ গ্রহণে প্রাথমিকভাবে সকলকে প্রণোদিত করতে প্রতিটি অফিস ভবনে একটি করে সাশ্রয় ব্যানার রাখার উদ্যোগ নেয়া যেতে পারে। একইভাবে আপনার নির্বাচনী এলাকায় সকল শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠাণ ও কার্যালয়েও সাশ্রয় ব্যানার রাখার উদ্যোগ নেয়া যেতে পারে।

প্রত্যেক দফতরের কর্মরতগণ স্বেচ্ছাপ্রণোদিত চাঁদা দিয়েই একটি সাশ্রয় ব্যানার করতে পারেন এবং তা জনসমাগম স্থলে লাগাতে পারেন। এর জন্য কোন বাজেট, প্রকল্প বা পরিকল্পনার প্রয়োজন নেই। এর মাধ্যমে সহজেই দেশব্যাপী সরকারের দ্বারা গৃহীত মহান সিদ্ধান্তের তত্ত্ব ও তথ্য প্রবাহিত হবে এবং নাগরিকগণের মাঝে ভুল বুঝাবুঝির অবসান হবে এবং সিদ্ধান্তের মর্মার্থ সাধারণের কাছে পৌঁছে যাবে, সরকারের গৃহীত সিদ্ধান্তের ফলে প্রতীত লক্ষ্য অর্জনের অনুকুল পরিবেশ সৃষ্টি হবে।

The Earth is a watery place. In fact, 71 percent of our planet is covered in water. Despite this, one in nine people do not have access to safe drinking water – that’s around 785 million people.

The trouble is, 96.5 percent of all Earth’s water is found in the oceans in the form of saline water, and is not drinkable for humans. That only leaves us with rivers, lakes, and groundwater to satisfy our water needs. According to the World Economic Forum, the global water crisis ranks as the number four risk in terms of impact on society. Let’s face it – humans need water to survive.

If you’re reading this from Canada or the United States, you may not understand this crisis on a personal level. After all, you can turn on a tap and have safe drinking water instantly start flowing from the faucet. This, however, is not the case for billions of people living on other continents

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
